In one of the least religious regions in the world the stars do a little better: the East searches for its “Horoskop” 1.1× as often as the West (89 against 78), with Brandenburg on top. Tarot is a different story: Berlin leads by far.

How we measured this
Google Trends, region Germany, resolution by state, web search for the term “Horoskop”, January–October 2026, pulled on 4 November 2026 (one term per request; a repeat pull gave identical values). Google scales each state from 0 to 100 relative to the state with the highest share of searches for the term (100 = most interest), so the index reflects how often a term is searched relative to all searches in a state, not the number of people. East and West are averages of the state values weighted by population on 31 December 2025 (our calculation).
- A search index measures interest, not behaviour: searching for something is not the same as doing it.
- Google samples its data, so values can shift by a few points between pulls.
- States below Google’s reporting threshold are shown without a value.

- Related searches, same period: “Astrologie”: East 86.7, West 72.1, Berlin 56 (1.2× East). “Tarot”: East 52.9, West 64.1, Berlin 100 (1.2× West).
