Average purchase price per hectare of agricultural land sold (plots of 0.1 ha or more, without buildings or inventory), 2025
A hectare of farmland sold for an average of €52,384 in the former West in 2025, but only €17,496 in the East: the eastern price is 33% of the western one. For arable land alone it is €66,085 in the West against €19,881 in the East. North Rhine-Westphalia (€80,732) is the most expensive state, Saarland (€12,672) the cheapest. By area, 49% of all farmland sold in Germany was in the East.
